Priestley in Leeds
Priestley would have been well acquainted with the city of Leeds. Being born in Birstall, a nearby village, Priestley would later in his life be minister at Mill Hill Chapel in central Leeds, where he developed his theological views, and would help establish Leeds Library. The pictures in this gallery illustrate Priestley's time in Leeds, and how he is remembered there today, including the Unitarian church where he was minister; the modern Leeds Library which he cofounded in 1768; his statue in central Leeds; and his remembrance in a modern community arts project.
